We all have heard of project managers and their relevance in any industry.
A project manager is often responsible for proposing, planning, designing, overseeing, monitoring, and finishing a project, whether it is the construction of a machine, the translation of its marketing materials, or its sales and distribution overseas.
As in other fields, in the translation industry the project manager is a professional who is familiar with both the intricacies of translation and, most importantly, the industry and requirements of the market in which the translation client operates.
This knowledge allows this professional to manage the translation work to everyone's satisfaction; to select the right team of translators and proofreaders involved in the project, and guide them throughout the process; and to communicate with the client to ensure that the translated content meets their objectives effectively and are an asset for their business goals. After all, this content will play an extremely important role, often associated with the expansion of the client's business to new markets. An expansion based on clear, effective, and successful communication will benefit everyone involved in the project.
The client expands their area of activity and reinforces their presence in a new market. The project manager gains the trust of their client and is surely going to be considered an indispensable partner for future projects. As I said, a win-win relationship!
